Behind this project, which I wanted to be thematic, there is a special story that is closely linked to two crucial stages of my intellectual and professional life: from the time I was a student at the university (English department) till I became a teacher of the same subject, that is over thirty years now, the idea of making a thematic lexicon started to vaguely ferment in my mind, and the motive behind that was (and still is) the urgent need I felt to accumulate the greatest amount possible of words, expressions and terms that are current on a large scale and in all fields of knowledge for deepening my linguistic and conceptual understanding of the English language as well as overcoming the difficulties that may hinder my comprehension, communication, and translation. The addition of other world languages to the project was perceived within the framework of bilingual thematic dictionaries (BTDs) which, though still in their infancy, will, undoubtedly, revolutionize vocabulary learning, especially for non-native speakers.
