The fall of the Berlin Wall was a fateful event in the history of the world.
To consider the products of the writing of history as works that cannot be ranked with the products of novelists, essayists and poets (which are characterized by their beauty, richness and immortality) is to succumb to the narrow-minded view that ignores the fact that history was literature since the dawn of civilisation and was only divorced from it in the last century when the fiction that history is primarily a “social science” became fashionable in universities.
إن اعـتـبـار إنـتـاجـات كـتـابـة الـتـاريـخ أعـمـالا لايـمـكـن تـصـنـيـفـهـا ضـمـن إنـتـاجـات الـروائـيـيـن و كـتـاب الـمـقـالات و الـشـعـراء (الـتـي تـمـتـاز بـجـمـالـهـا و غـنـاهـا و خـلـودهـا) إذعـان لـلـرؤيـة الـضـيـقـة الـتـي تـجـهـل حـقـيـقـة أن الـتـاريـخ كـان أدبـاً مـنـذ فـجـر الـحـضـارة و لـم يـنـفـصـل عـنـه إلا فـي الـقـرن الـمـاضـي حـيـن أصـبـح سـائـداً فـي الـجـامـعـات الـتـوهّـمُ بـأن الـتـاريـخ، فـي الـمـقـام الأول،“عـلـم اجـتـمـاعـي”.
