- أدخـل مـسـتـشـفـى الـصـدر مـشـتـكـيـاً مـن الـسـعـال الـذي طـال شـهـوراً و الـذي أخـطـأ طـبـيـبـه الـمـحـلـي تـشـخـيـصـه بـاعـتـبـاره الالـتـهـاب الـشـّعَـبـيّ الـذي يـجـعـل الإنـسـان يـصـفـر (عـنـد الـتـنـفـس) و يـخـرج الـبـلـغـم مـن الـحـنـجـرة. وقـد أظـهـرت الأشـعـة الـسـيـنـيـة لـلـصـدر بـقـعـاً دائـريـة/بـقـعـاً مُـعـتـمـة (فـي الـجـسـم الـشـفـاف) مـوزعـة علـى مـجـالـيْ الـرئـة مـعـاً فـي الـنـطـاق الـسـفـلـي لـلـفـَصّ. لـقـد كـان سـرطـان رئـة مـرتـبـطـاً بـالـتـدخـيـن.
